This book is a biography of retiree Olav Bjørgaas, born 1926 in Stavanger, Norway, in humble circumstances, who became a physician and Christian missionary to Formosa, China (Taiwan). Bjørgaas and his wife Kari were active during the Vietnam War as medical missionaries, and the book relates their adventures with their children Per Samuel and Hanne Marit as they strove to build clinics and hospitals for leprosy, tuberculosis, and polio victims, among others.
